So much for the theory that resting your players will hurt you in the playoffs. The New Orleans Saints lost their last three games of the 2009 regular season and people were wondering how they would respond in their first playoff game. Well, they responded flawlessly that's for sure.
The New Orleans Saints went out and pounded Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals by a score of 45-14 in yesterday's NFC Divisional playoff game. And the game wasn't even that close! Saints running back Reggie Bush had a huge day, including a 46 yard touchdown run.
The Cardinals did close the Saints lead to 21-14 on a four yard touchdown run by rookie running back Beanie Wells. And that was as close as the Arizona Cardinals would get as the Saints went on to out score the Cardinals 24-0 to finish off the beat down. The question that everyone is asking is "Will this be Kurt Warner's last game of his NFL career?". It remains to be seen if Warner will return for another season, or hang up his cleats for good.
Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints will sit back and wait for the winner of the Minnesota Vikings-Dallas Cowboys game, which will start in about four hours from now. The Saints have home field and they will host either the Cowboys or Vikings in the NFC Championship game next weekend. Some notable stats from this game below:
